Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

This policy explains what happens to information when you use md2pdf.site. The tool is designed to convert documents inside your browser and minimize data collection.

Summary

You do not need to create an account or provide your name, email address, or payment details to use the converter.

  • Markdown and uploaded files are processed locally.
  • md2pdf does not store document content or filenames.
  • Google Analytics remains disabled until you allow it.
  • Firebase Hosting processes technical data needed to deliver and protect the site.

Documents and local conversion

Pasted text, .md or .markdown files, titles, headers, footers, and watermarks remain in your browser memory while you work. The PDF or Word file is generated on your device.

md2pdf does not send this content to its own API, database, remote storage, or conversion server. When you reload or close the page, the site does not retain a recoverable copy of the document.

Hosting and technical data

The site is delivered through Firebase Hosting, a Google service. To deliver the site, provide security, and detect abuse, Firebase Hosting may process IP addresses and other technical request data. Google states that Hosting retains IP data for a few months.

This information belongs to the infrastructure serving the website and does not contain the Markdown entered in the editor.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 loads only after you select “Allow analytics.” If you allow it, the site may measure visits, viewed pages, general browser or device information, and events such as loading the sample, changing the view or style, validating a file, and starting, completing, or failing an export.

Custom events do not contain Markdown, the document title, filename, headers, footers, watermarks, or generated content. Advertising signals, ads personalization, and Google Signals remain disabled in the site configuration.

If you reject analytics, the Google tag does not load. You can change your choice at any time through “Analytics settings” in the footer.

Browser storage and cookies

md2pdf stores your analytics choice and non-sensitive editor preferences, such as font, theme, page size, and scroll synchronization, in localStorage. If you voluntarily enable “Save draft on this device,” it also stores document content and fields in this browser. The draft is never sent to md2pdf and you can remove it by disabling the option, starting a new document, or clearing site data.

When you allow Analytics, Google may use first-party cookies whose names begin with _ga. If you later disable analytics through the site, md2pdf updates consent and attempts to remove those cookies from the domain.

Remote images and external links

If your Markdown contains an image hosted at an HTTPS URL, the browser may request it directly from that server to display the preview. The external server may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and browser user agent. md2pdf does not control that server.

When you follow an external link, the destination applies its own policy. md2pdf uses a referrer policy that prevents this page's URL from being sent as the referrer.

Retention and control

md2pdf has no document retention period because it does not receive or store document content. The local analytics preference remains in your browser. Firebase Hosting and Google Analytics retain the information they process according to their settings, terms, and policies.

You can reject or withdraw Analytics consent through the footer and clear site cookies and storage through your browser controls.

Security

The site uses HTTPS, limits file and pasted-text size, normalizes download names, and renders HTML inside Markdown as text. Browser policies also block iframes, objects, forms, and unused sensitive permissions.

No Internet service can guarantee absolute security. Avoid placing secrets in remote images or opening links you do not recognize.

Children

md2pdf is not specifically directed to children and does not knowingly request personal information from children. The tool can be used without an account and without sending document content to md2pdf.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when the site's features, providers, or practices change. The date at the top identifies the current revision.

To report an issue related to this policy, write to the email listed on the contact page. Do not attach documents, keys, personal information, or other unnecessary confidential data.
